Why You Need Travel Insurance for SPRING BREAK™ Experience FIJI?
We try to keep everything about SPRING BREAK™ Experience FIJI fun and lighthearted, but there is some stuff we need to get a little be serious about, travel insurance is one of them.
So, do you need travel insurance to come on SPRING BREAK Experience? In short, yes. Well, legally, you don’t need it but you’d be an absolute idiot not to get yourself covered.
What does travel insurance do?
Travel insurance covers you for everything that could go wrong during your trip. We’re not mental; we’ve thought of every eventuality and have contingency plans for everything and in 98% of scenarios everything will be absolutely fine.
But what about in that 2% of situations where the shit hits the fan and you need to get home, get to the hospital or get your stuff back. That’s where travel insurance comes in.
A fully comprehensive travel insurance policy will cover you for pretty much every scenario. Everything from an emergency or unexpected medical expenses abroad, your flight home should you need to be sent back to NZ for medical reasons, or pay compensation should your bags get lost, stolen or wrecked by the airline.
You may think that you’re invincible but we’re sorry to tell you, you’re not. Shit happens, sadly, shit often happens when you go on holiday; life’s just not fair like that.
What Cover Do I Need?
For SPRING BREAK™ Experience FIJI you need a single-trip fully comprehensive policy.
What is fully comprehensive?
A fully comprehensive policy will cover you for pretty much every eventuality, for example, they will assist and pay out for;
- Lost or stolen passport
- Lost, stolen or damaged luggage
- Trip cancellation
- Oversees medical fees
- Repatriation
- Person Liability
- Accident Cover for Extreme Sports/Activities (some policies do not include this as standard).
A fully comprehensive policy will also cover you if, for whatever reason, SPRING BREAK™ Experience FIJI has to be cancelled; e.g a hurricane hits the Pacific and the NZ Ministry of Travel declare it an unsafe destination to travel. This is where travel insurance will compensate you for the trip, should we be unable to find a solution.
Things to Think About
Accidents that occur under the influence of alcohol are seldom covered by insurance policies. So be sure to confirm this before you depart. Obviously, you’ll be drinking sensibly so there will be no chance of a drunken accident, right?!
There are lots of insurance providers out there, many of whom specialise in covering young adults, backpackers and travellers to the Pacific Islands. Remember to shop around to find the best price but don’t skimp on the cover to save a couple of dollars, you may live to regret it.
Before you leave remember to give your insurance policy details to someone at home, a parent perhaps, so that should you be unable to make a claim or inform the insurance company of an incident, someone else can call on your behalf as soon as possible.
